ORIGIN & BENEFITS

Enjoyed since ancient times. Our thermal water is a natural wonder, heated by the Arenal Volcano.

ORIGIN & FORMATION

Our waters are naturally heated by the Arenal Volcano, they’re pure and without any kind of added chemicals. The water’s geological origin can be telluric or magmatic. In the case of Paradise, the water is telluric, which means it’s “young” water; rained water that is filtered through the earth and circulates through different depths gathering on its way minerals and gaining temperature when making contact with very hot materials.

COMPOSITION

This water contains all of the original minerals of the hot spring, around twelve different ones. According to a study performed by Gala Termal, a Spanish consulting firm for thermal water centers, our water is described as: Hyperthermal water of mild mineralization with sodium chloride, magnesium and sulfates.

Just like name suggests, our water’s main minerals, are sodium chloride, magnesium and sulfates, though it also contains a high proportion of calcium and bicarbonates. To boost the water’s beneficial properties, our attractions count with focused hydromassage for different body muscle groups.

THERMAL WATER AS A THERAPY

Hydrotherapy is the therapeutic use of water, either through the use of heat, mechanical means (by pressure), or its chemical properties. Hydrotherapy can take place in spas, saunas, thermal spring baths, or other types of baths that have similar characteristics. It is a form of physical therapy, intended to treat a number of illnesses, injuries, and disorders.

In spite of the great advances in medicine, hydrotherapy still serves as a complement to maintain overall wellbeing.

What is crenotherapy?

While hydrotherapy as “the therapeutic use of water”, crenotherapy is when the cure is performed with the use of mineral and medicinal water, defined as “therapy through the use of mineral springs.”

At Paradise Hot Springs, you will find hydrotherapy and crenotherapy elements. All pools and Jacuzzis have natural mineral water rich in salts and magnesium; the attractions have a variety of temperatures ranging 35ºC/95ºF to 41ºC/104ºF, and also, each one provides a type of hydromassage, waterfalls of different intensity and water jets to massage specific body parts
